18/07/2008 18:05. The Acura TSX, at least the well-engineered and well-executed first-generation model, always appealed to me because the sporty sedan was as much European as it was Japanese.

Based on the European Honda Accord, a smaller, sexier version of the model that sells in large numbers here, the original TSX was imbued with the sort of handling required to negotiate that continent's narrow, twisty roads as well as its high-speed highways. It successfully balanced the needs of the sporty-minded -- with a crisp agility beyond that of most front-drivers -- with the realities of day-to-day commuting. The second-generation model has large shoes to fill.
