31/05/2008 02:47. AUDI'S A3 has been given a sleek new look - and an option that's essential for anyone who has difficulty in parking a car.

The 2009 model year - which will be in the showrooms in early August - is also more environmentally friendly and up to 15 per cent more economical to run.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Audi has managed to keep the price of the entry level 1.6-litre model the same as that of the current model - £14,995.

The A3 was introduced in 1993 and immediately became a best seller for the German premium car maker.

In 2003 the second generation was launched and in 2004 the four-door hatchback made its appearance. Now almost two million A3 models have been built and demand is growing, judging by the soaring sales figures.
