20/06/2008 18:41. The recent resurgence of the German luxury brands has created a massive proliferation of models as BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz try to capitalize on what is perhaps the baby boomers' swan song in dominating the automotive marketplace.

Take a look at Mercedes Canada's lineup. The last time I checked, the company had almost 30 models or trim levels costing more than $65,000, and that was a few years ago, before the swoopy CLS made its appearance. BMW's lineup continues to expand into ever smaller niches such as the X6 Sports Activity Coupe, and Audi -- after a long dormancy -- is finally hitting its stride with its second SUV on the way and a full-fledged sports car that's able to do battle with the likes of Ferrari.
