22/08/2008 00:14. The incident in which a BMW Sauber mechanic suffered an electric shock during testing at Jerez last month prompted widespread concern about the safety of the new Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) due to be introduced in Formula 1 next season.

After a thorough investigation into the incident, BMW made public its findings on Thursday in the following interview with its head of powertrain, Markus Duesmann.

Markus Duesmann: The mechanic suffered an electric shock after touching the sidepod and steering wheel of the car.
