New Delhi: The Delhi High Court may have sent a strong message by punishing criminal lawyers R K Anand and I U khan in the BMW sting case. But lawyers in the Capital are unhappy with the verdict.

On Friday Bar Association in the Delhi district court went on strike, protesting against the order.

Lawyers in Delhi were up in arms a day after the Delhi High Court held R K Anand and I U Khan guilty of contempt of court and barred them from practicing for the next four months.

All four district courts in the Capital wore a deserted look as the Bar Association went on strike protesting the HC judgement.

Lawyers across Delhi were on strike on Friday, Delhi's lower courts were all closed. They were protesting against the action taken against two senior advocates: R K Anand and I U Khan in the BMW case.

Both men were caught on camera by NDTV trying to influence a witness into changing his testimony in Delhi's BMW Case.

On Friday the High Court ruled that Anand and Khan cannot practice in any Delhi court for four months.

Lawyers say that's its unfair.

Their strike meant that no cases were heard at the courts at Patiala House, Kakardooma, Tees Hazari, or Rohini.

The legal fraternity on Thusrday said the Delhi High Court's decision to punish two senior lawyers for trying to influence a witness in BMW hit-and-run case would improve the system.

Senior advocate and the Supreme Court lawyer Kamini Jaiswal expressed hope that the administration of justice would improve with the conviction of two advocates in the BMW expose case.

"I am quite relieved that the High Court has taken a strict view in the matter and I hope that the system will improve with the verdict," Jaiswal said, reacting to the judgement.
