said Kevin Gleason of Florence, Ky. Their five-year-old daughter
Sarah was strapped into the back seat of the family´s
four-door 1994 Buick Century when it was rear-ended by a pickup
traveling at just 24 mph. Sarah´s heart ruptured after the
front passenger seat carrying Kevin Gleason collapsed backward.
It all began on the morning of July 19, 1996. The Gleason family
was planning to leave for a retreat to the Kentucky Mountains, and
like all concerned parents, they made sure their children were
buckled up in the back seat. Diana Gleason was at the wheel next to
her husband, Kevin. Their son Ben, 9, sat behind his mother.
Five-year-old Sarah was in the rear center seat, statistically the
