• Local player brings out best in Buick Open champion 03/07/2008 02:21. Adam Hansen isn't taking credit. But he apparently brings out the best in Kenny Perry. Hansen, the 17-year-old soon-to-be senior at Bay City Western, partnered with the PGA Tour veteran and three amateurs in the Buick Open Pro-Am last Wednesday. He watched as Perry fired a 64 in the pro-am - then went on to win the Buick Open crown. ''That was awesome,'' Hansen said. ''I told him on our last hole, 'I'll be rooting for you.' He was playing really good and I knew if he kept playing like that, he'd have a chance to win it.'' Hansen didn't fare too badly himself. He fired an even-par round of 72 in the pro-am, with two bogeys, two birdies and 14 pars at Warwick Hills Country Club.
