01/07/2008 10:00. GRAND BLANC TWP. -- For months, Buick Open tournament officials celebrated the 50th anniversary of the tournament.

Now that the anniversary is complete and the 50th Buick Open is over, the attention turns to making this event appealing to the top golfers in the world.

Last week only one player ranked in the top 30 in the world, Jim Furyk, took part in the tournament.

That could change beginning next year, when the Buick Open moves back to its former spot on the PGA calendar.
