Chrysler wants you to have your SUV and drive it too.

That's the idea behind the two new hybrid twins from the No. 3 U.S. vehicle manufacturer. You get to keep your big sport utility vehicle while reducing your fuel costs.

It's a compelling argument in an era of breathtaking increases in gasoline and diesel fuel costs. But even with the better fuel economy from the 2009 Dodge Durango and 2009 Chrysler Aspen, it could be hard sell.

For one thing, these are full-size, three-row, truck-based SUVs, only slightly smaller than the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada and Toyota Sequoia. They are precisely the sorts of vehicles from which buyers have been fleeing.
