IL Exclusive: Nissan To Build Dodge Hornet in Japan and Mexico 17/06/2008 03:43. TOKYO, Japan — Nissan will assemble an updated version of the
Dodge Hornet for Chrysler — initially at its Oppama plant in
Japan, and eventually at its Aguascalientes plant in Mexico —
for sale in North America and other markets, Inside Line has learned. The new Hornet, due in 2010 as a 2011 model, will look similar to the concept vehicle that was unveiled by Chrysler at the 2006 Geneva Auto Show, sources told Inside Line . The production model is expected to be built on the latest version of Renault-Nissan's global B-platform, which underpins such vehicles as the Nissan Cube and Renault Clio , they said. Chrysler previously had discussed a possible assembly deal on the Hornet with Volkswagen and with Chery but failed to reach an agreement with either company.
