NEW DELHI: Tata Motors, India’s largest automaker, is in talks with Italian auto major Fiat Group to work jointly in the commercial vehicles segment.

Sergio Marchionne, the chief executive officer of the Fiat Group, said discussions are on with the Tatas for joint work in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) space. He added that the partnership could happen through the company’s LCV arm Fiat Professional, but did not elaborate further.

The Tatas and Marchionne had decided to forge an alliance between their respective companies during an automobile show in 2006. While Marchionne was looking for a fresh lease of life for Fiat’s moribund image in India, the Tatas wanted to benefit from... // Daily News & Analysis
