29/11/2008 06:16. Mendocino County authorities have recovered a 3-month-old infant who was strapped into a car that was stolen outside a Willits business on Friday.

It was not immediately clear if the suspected car thief also was in custody, Willits Police Chief Gerry Gonzalez said.

The vehicle was found in the Ridgewood subdivision just south of Willits around 12:20 p.m., about an hour after the baby’s mother jumped out of her SUV to run into a local business and left the car running, Gonzalez said.
