15/08/2008 14:55. Ford Motor Co has begun building the new Fiesta car as part of its plan to sell the same models in more countries, including Europe and the USA.

Its factory in Cologne, Germany, is the first plant to produce the subcompact. The Fiesta will also be assembled in Asia later this year and North America in 2010.

The Fiesta is the first vehicle to emerge from chief executive officer Alan Mulally's "One Ford" strategy of having regional units work more closely together. The... // Irish Independent
