Ford shifts focus from league to Cup run 25/09/2008 20:32. MANAGER Andy Ford admits a good cup run may be his best chance of
putting a smile on Welling supporters' faces. The Wings host Whyteleafe in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday and are massive favourites against their Ryman Division One South visitors. Despite the two-division gulf, Ford sent scouts to check out the opposition last Saturday and on Tuesday in an effort to minimise any risk of a giant-killing. "Supporters love the FA Cup," Ford said. "We will not be top of the Blue Square South at the end of the season, and, though the playoffs would be a massive achievement, a decent cup run would be a nice bonus. "We can play bad and win or play lovely flowing football and lose, but the most important thing for me - and the supporters - is a victory." After going... // Bexley Times |
