Review: Honda Fit hard to beat for that short commute
22/08/2008 18:52. It's a funny thing about little cars like the Honda Fit: the higher gas prices go, the bigger they look. And the better they look. At $6 a gallon a Fit probably could pass for a stretch limo.

This year, the growth in size isn't entirely an illusion. Arguably the best subcompact car available in America has just been redesigned and made four inches longer and about an inch wider. Even at current gas prices, few Americans are likely to take it seriously as a family car. But it's harder than ever to beat for commuting or errands.

Generally fun to drive, the Fit has quicker electric steering for '09 and a suspension that can take hard usage without getting flustered. But the ride remains choppy. The new model starts at about $15,000 with freight. A "Sport" version (with the same suspension... // Newsday
