The new - and larger - Honda Jazz goes on sale in the UK next month at prices starting from £9990.

The Jazz is available with 1.2- or 1.4-litre petrol engines and comes in three trim levels called S, SE and EX, the most expensive being the 1.4 EX at £12,790. To begin with, all versions will use a manual gearbox, but an automated manual transmission known as i-SHIFT will be offered with the 1.4-litre engine from January next year.

The 1.2 SE model, with air-con and larger 15-inch alloy wheels will cost from £10,990, but Honda is predicting that the majority of Jazz sales will be the entry-level 1.4-litre ES model that starts at £11,490.

The 1.4 ES is just £180 dearer than the base 1.4-litre it replaces and comes generously equipped with a refrigerated glovebox, the double-trunk boot and Hondas Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA).
