Honda rolls out fuel-efficient rail car fleet 20/06/2008 22:47. American Honda Motor Co. isn't just looking to cut fuel costs and trim carbon-dioxide
emissions on the road. The sales arm for automaker Honda Motor Co., which centers its U.S. manufacturing operations in Ohio, this week announced the rollout of a new fleet of Auto-Max rail cars, which hold a mix of up to 22 cars and trucks for transport around North America. The 400-car fleet, the company said, cuts down per-vehicle fuel costs and reduces CO2 emissions. Honda's bi-level rail cars, by comparison, can move about half as many vehicles and only cars or trucks in each load. The Auto-Max cars make up about 30 percent of Honda's rail fleet.
