State's car shoppers to get information on emissions

When motorists head to car dealerships, lots of factors influence which car they choose. And now, California auto shoppers are about to get another piece of information: each vehicle's global warming ranking.

Under a first-in-the-nation law, all new cars for sale in California starting with the 2009 model year will be required to display a window sticker in the showroom that indicates how the vehicle's greenhouse gas emissions compare with other vehicles of the same model year.

The state hasn't released the scores yet, but you can expect your Toyota Prius to score fairly well. The Hummer H3, which emits three times as much carbon dioxide? Not so much.
