Base engine in the Genesis is a 3.8-liter V-6 that delivers 290 horsepower. To upgrade to the 4.6-liter V-8 engine, youll tack on $5K to the price tag. 01/07/2008 03:07. It's a large, luxurious rear-wheel drive car with a choice of V6 and V8 engines, offering comfortable, high performance at a competitive price. Not budget motoring by any means, but certainly when viewed against the opposition. Curiously, the car is not destined for sale outside of the U.S. and Far East... why? Well, branding is crucial in the luxury segment, and it remains to be seen if Hyundai can succeed at this level. Company badging will be removed from cars sold in America, in much the same way as Toyota, Nissan and Honda have distinct 'premium' divisions to shift luxury cars.
