03/07/2008 15:06. TOKYO -- Soaring gasoline prices, higher raw-material costs and the U.S. economic slowdown have forced most Japanese auto makers to throttle back their earnings forecasts for this fiscal year.

But Japanese truck and diesel-engine maker Isuzu Motors expects to shift into higher profit gear, thanks to increased demand for trucks in the world's emerging markets and resource-rich nations.
