Marion Hino plant plans uncertain
Hino to expand work force at W.Va. plant

12/07/2008 15:52. Officials with Hino Motors Manufacturing USA said Friday that the company has not decided how to handle the production suspension of Toyota pickup trucks that its Marion, Ark., plant makes parts for.

On Thursday, Toyota Motor Corp. officials said they will suspend production of Tundra pickups and Sequoia SUVs for three months starting Aug. 8.

The 550 workers at the Marion plant, which opened in 2004, make axles and suspension parts for Tundras.

"We just got this information (Thursday) so we are trying to digest the impact," Sanford "Sandy" Ring, Hino general manager, for external and legal affairs and administration said Friday.

"We are looking at a variety of options," he said. "I can't say what is or what isn't in play."
