Honda Motor Co. Ltd. is blaming "profound" uncertainties in the auto market behind
a decline in sales last month, its first in four months.
Torrance, Calif.-based American Honda Motor Co. posted total July sales of 138,744 vehicles, down 2 percent from 141,049 in July 2007. That accounts for a marginal decline in its Honda division, sales for which fell to 125,916 vehicles from 126,668 last year, coupled with an 11 percent sales decline for its luxury Acura division.
Acura sales fell to 12,828 last month, versus 14,381 a year ago.
