06/10/2008 13:39. Oct. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Honda Motor Co. , Japan's second- largest carmaker, topped the country's passenger car ranking for the 11th straight month with its Fit compact.

Fit sales rose 52 percent in September from a year earlier to 16,350 units, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said in a release today. Toyota Motor Corp. 's Corolla ranked second with 12,176 vehicles sold, and its Vitz took third with 9,972 sold.

Demand for Honda's Fit and the new Freed minivan boosted the Tokyo-based company's domestic sales, excluding minicars, by 12 percent in the fiscal first half.... // Bloomberg
