Indias leading two wheeler manufacturer Hero Honda has revealed that their sales were up 16 per cent in the month of June.

The company sold 295,675 units compared to 255,200 units in the same month last year.

Hero Honda added that their cumulative sales for the first three months of the current fiscal are now up 11 per cent to 894,244 units.

SAN FRANCISCO (Thomson Financial) - American Honda Motor Co. said Tuesday sales in June rose 1.4%, to 142,539 units from 140,935 in the same month last year.

After adjusting for three extra selling days a year ago, sales in the month climbed 13.8%.

Total car sales rose 19.3%, or an adjusted 34.2%, to 97,639 units, while truck sales fell 24%, or an adjusted 14.5%, to 44,900. Sales in the company's Acura division fell 25.7%, or an adjusted 16.4%.

The Japanese automaker said June sales of its top-selling Accord model surged 37.3%, or an adjusted 54.5%, to 39,967.

U.S.-listed shares of Honda (nyse: HMC - news - people ) fell 6 cents to $33.96.

TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) - American Honda Motor Co. on Tuesday said June sales rose in the U.S. as demand for its Fit models surged from the same month of 2007.

Acura division and Honda division car and truck sales rose a combined 1 percent to 142,539 last month from 140,935 in June 2007.

Honda sold 10,003 Fit models compared with 5,613 in the year-earlier month. The company also sold 39,704 Accord models, compared with 28,915 in June 2007. The Civic posted sales of 39,967, up from 36,512.

Sales volume for Ridgeline pickup trucks fell to 2,247 from 3,840.
