Sales of Nissan Division vehicles decreased 18.5 percent, while sales of Infiniti vehicles decreased by 11.9 percent. NNA in the first quarter of the fiscal year sold 252,477 units, versus 256,399 for the April-June 2007 period, a decrease of 1.5 percent.

Nissan division sales decreased 18.5% year-over-year, while luxury brand Infiniti sales declined 11.9%. Nissan's sales for the first quarter fell 1.5% from a year ago. However, June 2008 had only 24 selling days, lower than the 27 selling days available last year.

For June, Nissan North America sales decreased 17.7% to 75,847 units from 92,213 units a year ago. Total car sales fell 7.4% to 54,645 units, while total truck sales declined 36.1% to 21,202 units.

June 2008 had three fewer selling days than June last year.

Total car sales fell 7.4% to 54,654 units, while total truck sales plunged 36.1% to 21,202 vehicles.

DETROIT -- Nissan North America Inc has said overall sales fell 7.5 per cent on an adjusted basis in June from a year earlier as higher sedan sales failed to offset the decline in demand for trucks.

Nissan-brand sales fell 8.3 per cent in June, while sales of its luxury Infiniti brand were down 0.9 per cent for the month, the automaker said.
