"I did not expect it to be done," he said of the moving tribute. "I had plans on getting it done myself."

His mother, Karen, had the artwork done while he was in Iraq, unbeknownst to him or his wife, Alahna.

Chrysler LLC and Encino, Calif.-based Operation Gratitude presented the customized vehicle to Gallagher, 27, before the welcome-home ceremony for the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.

The organization has sent more than 350,000 care packages to troops overseas since the Iraq War began in March 2003.
