22/08/2008 18:13. A defective control valve in about 13,400 Kia Sorentos needs to be replaced before the engines in the sports utility vehicles become damaged leaving drivers without adequate control over their vehicles. The vehicles are from the 2003-05 models years.

Transport Canada reports that a metal clip on the valve can break off causing abnormal engine noise and vibrations, which could lead to engine damage and loss of power. The check engine light on the dash may or may not illuminate. Kia mechanics have been instructed to replace the valve with an updated version.
