21/06/2008 00:30. MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Fiat SpA said it will present its apologies to the Chinese government if there is any misunderstanding over its advertising of the latest Lancia Delta model, which includes images of Tibet.

Fiat (nyse: FIA - news - people )'s the latest advertising and TV commercial, showing actor Richard Gere driving the Delta in Hollywood and then in front of a Tibetan palace could upset the Chinese people, the company said.

'For some time, the promotion and advertising of the group's products are linked to events and people that have made significant artistic contribution at the international level,' it said.

The choice of Gere to promote the car reflects his long career and support for free artistic expression, it said.
