The 31-year-old midfielder, Rovers players player of the season for 2007-08, joined the Bantams on a two-year contract yesterday. McLaren was offered a new deal by Tranmere after playing 93 games in two seasons at Prenton Park. But he opted for a more lucrative offer from Bradford, even though it meant dropping a division into League Two. The player said he was won over in a meeting with Bradford City manager Stuart McCall, the former Everton midfielder, and chose to sign for the Yorkshire club ahead of several potential League One suitors.
