McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen was easily the quickest driver in Friday's second free practice sessions at Silverstone ahead of Sunday's British Grand Prix.

The Finn set the fastest time halfway through Friday afternoon's second practice and then improved that time substantially to post a 1'19.989 - the only driver to go below the 1min 20sec barrier.

Mark Webber (Red Bull-Renault) was a surprise second-fastest, half a second behind Kovalainen, with the Finn's McLaren team Lewis Hamilton third, just 23 thousandths of a second behind Webber. David Coulthard, who earlier this week announced his retirement from Formula One at the end of this season, was fourth fastest.

It was a dismal afternoon for Ferrari, after Felipe Massa set the fastest time in the first session earlier in the day.... // SuperSport
