WASHINGTON (AP) _ Is it possible for a video game to express an
anti-war viewpoint? After all, most war games revel in jaw-dropping
violence, from smoothly executed head shots to massive explosions.
When you're mowing down hordes of aliens in "Halo" or "Gears of
War," there isn't much time to reflect on the futility of the whole
enterprise. Still, amid all the gung-ho mayhem of the modern first-person shooter, there are glimpses of a more pacifist conscience at work. Even last year's best-seller, "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare," had some uncomfortably grim moments, including the awful aftermath of a nuclear explosion. And lesser games like "Haze," ''Army of Two" and "BlackSite: Area 51" have taken a more cynical, less heroic approach to war and warriors. For unambiguous, rah-rah... // Laconia Citizen 06/10/2008 18:16 'Brothers,' 'Mercs 2' bring fresh attitude to war Foster's Daily Democrat

The S320 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY increases its efficiency over the standard S320 by almost 3 mpg and 0.7 pounds of CO2 per mile, reaching 31 mpg with only 0.71 pounds of CO2 emitted per mile. To get there, Mercedes engineers got their hands dirty and found several new places to save energy. 02/10/2008 04:17 Mercedes-Benz introduces S 320 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY with 31 MPG Autoblog
Mercedes-Benz really wants you to know how green its new line of
diesel vehicles can be. To that end, the German automaker calls
them Blue and capitalizes EFFICIENCY. Subtle, no? In an effort to
earn the badge, MB has tweaked its largest and most luxurious model
with a 3.0-liter diesel engine, a seven-speed automatic tranny that
decouples itself at stops, a power steering pump that only operates
when necessary and low rolling resistance tires. Those are pretty
simple changes, no complex electric motors here. Fuel mileage,
though, is rather good for such a large vehicle,... // Autoblog 02/10/2008 02:14 Mercedes-Benz S 320 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Autoblog.nl

STUTTGART October 1, 2008: From the end of 2008,
Mercedes-Benz will be adding to its range one of the most
fuel-efficient and therefore economical luxury saloons around in
the form of the new S 320 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY. Effective detailed
modifications and advanced technology have lowered the fuel
consumption and CO2 emissions of the new model variant by some ten
per cent compared to its predecessor, which was itself very
economical. Features of the first BlueEFFICIENCY model in the
S-Class range include on-demand power steering, an automatic
transmission with standstill decoupling, as well as tyres with
reduced rolling resistance. All without compromising the high
standards of comfort, performance and driving pleasure in... // Autochannel 01/10/2008 17:21 Forever war: 'Brothers in Arms,' 'Mercs 2' bring fresh attitude to ... Newsday

Shortly after the turn of the last century and within a year of Daimler’s unveiling the 35HP Mercedes in 1901, the German automaker began what could be best described as a “growth spurt.†Like any company in its infancy, Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (established in November 1890 by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach), was going through a period of rapid development and with it commensurate changes. What had been the obstreperous, noisy, and unreliable horseless carriage in 1900 was by 1907 the automobile, and there was nothing horseless or carriage about it. Following in his late father’s footsteps (company... // Car Collector Magazine |
