Richmond-based Media General Inc., said yesterday that he is
retiring as an employee of the company. His retirement, effective before the end of September, marks the first time in decades that a member of his family has not held a high-ranking role as an executive employee of the company. But Bryan, 70, will remain as the nonexecutive chairman of the company's board, which is expanding from nine to 11 members. Yesterday, the board added two directors who were voted off in April when Class A shareholders elected three directors nominated by a dissident shareholder.
