03/07/2008 18:58. TOKYO (Thomson Financial) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries said it will run a two-year carbon capture technology test programme at a German coal-fired power plant in conjunction with E.ON AG.

The German energy giant will invest 10 million euros in the solvent-based project, which will start in 2010 and aims to capture 100 tonnes of carbon dioxide per day, Mitsubishi (other-otc: MSBHY.PK - news - people ) Heavy said.

Carbon dioxide is the most prominent of the greenhouse gases scientists have identified as the main cause of global warming.
