04/07/2008 05:11. A gift to the community from the church, the colorful event was the perfect way for local families to spend a sunny summer afternoon.

The strains of "La Bamba," "Rock Around the Clock," "Blueberry Hill" and other favorites competed with the sounds of well-tuned engines as families wandered through the rows of classic cars or observed the scene from the shady lawn.

While their children gravitated to a Moon Bounce at the back of the grounds, parents were drawn to Jim Benson's barbecue tent by a cloud of smoke and the aroma of grilling chicken.

Donna Delp, coordinator of the show, explained that the church planned the event as a way to give something back to the community. She said the economy and price of gas were factors in the church's decision to stage the car show, square dances... // Annapolis Capital
