The announcement Tuesday that Chip Ganassi was disbanding the No.40 team and laying off more than 70 employees has caused NASCAR regulars to take a collective gulp in recent days.

When a team with the history of Ganassi Racing and with a big-name driver like former Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti can't land a sponsorship the logical question becomes "who will be next in these tough economic times?"
