Nissan EV-02 Cube Electric Car Test Drive: Gunning for 150-Mile ...
08/08/2008 03:24. Knowing they'll be developing another all-new vehicle to house
their electric propulsion system, it's not surprising that Nissan
is cautious about releasing too many specs on the prototype EV-02
we got to drive here—you know, like the 0-to-60 mph times.
But our turn behind the wheel revealed the system to be
surprisingly quick. While it doesn't quite have the wheel-spinning
launch of a 350Z, the Cube offers a full-throttle take-off that
backs us deep into the Cube's seats. That's not entirely
surprising, as electric motors generate maximum torque the instant
they start turning. By the time we hit about 30 mph, that raw
torque is easing back, though the little EV continues pulling
comfortably even at 60 mph—about as fast as we can go on our
tightly-winding portion of the Oppama... //
