NEW YORK -- Nissan North America Inc. said Friday that it's making preparations at a Mississippi assembly plant in case Hurricane Gustav hits the Gulf Coast next week. Company spokesman Fred Standish said Nissan is keeping an eye on the storm's strength and path and setting up ways to communicate with workers at its Canton, Miss., plant. The plant, which is located about 210 miles north of New Orleans and produces the Altima sedan along with pickups, minivans and sport utility vehicles, was slightly damaged by Hurricane Katrina, Standish said.
