09/07/2008 00:57. The Hungarian unit of carmaker Audi AG will spend about EUR 200 million on developments in the country in 2008, mostly in areas that affect the production of new engines, Péter Lõre, spokesman of Audi Hungaria Motor Kft., told local newswire MTI on Tuesday.

Up to day, Audi has pumped more than EUR 3.3 billion into its Gyõr-based facility (northwest Hungary), which makes the carmaker one of the largest investors in Hungary.

The company has announced today that it produced more than 1.023 million engines in the first half of this year, nearly 1% (10,000 units) more than in H1 2007.

A total of 32,629 cars rolled out of the plant in the January-June period, including 9,543 A3 Cabriolets, 15,873 Coupés and 7,231 Roadsters,
