Ingolstadt, Germany - Audi has announced the introduction of a long-wheelbase version of its Audi A4 to the Chinese market. The A4L features a wheelbase that is 60 mm longer than the conventional model, giving rear-seat passengers more room. The new model is built at the company’s plant in Changchun, China and made its debut this week.

Audi has introduced to the Chinese market a long-wheelbase version of its A4 sedan, making it the first premium brand to offer a stretched model in the upper mid-size category in the country. The new model is called the A4L and its wheelbase stretches an addition 60mm (2.36in), with most of the extra space benefiting rear-seat passengers. The cars total length now stretches 4.76m.

To meet growing demand in China for vehicles like the 2009 Audi A4 , only 2.36 inches longer, Audi has just unveiled the A4L, an A4 with an extended wheelbase. The lengthened wheelbase should show itself in the backseats, which have increased legroom proportional to the stretch. This creates a vehicle that should sit somewhere in between the regular A4 and the A6 in both price and space and is an indicator of the lengths car makers are now going to pursue sales the world’s fastest growing car market, China.

“India is a long term market for us and we look forward for every new model to come here. The all -new Audi Q5 hasn't even  hit the market yet in the United States and it already has racked up an award.
