In news that will surprise almost nobody, Audi has announced that it will be swapping the S5s 4.2L V8 engine in favour of a lighter, almost as powerful, and much more fuel-efficient supercharged V6.

An updated version of the Audi S5 due out by the end of 2009 will have a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, rather than the 4.2-liter V8 currently in use. The move will align the 2010 S5 with the new S4 , which already uses the V6.

Sorry I like V8s better. V6s will never offer the same type of feeling that a V8 will. How much lighter or fuel efficient is the blown v6 over the v8. Are there any figures out yet for this engine.
