Chrysler's chief-in-waiting lays out vision
28/08/2008 15:06. On Aug. 18, it was announced that Trevor Creed, Chrysler's senior vice president for design, will retire at the end of the month and Gilles will take over as vice president for design for the Auburn Hills, Mich., automaker Sept. 1.

Gilles, who's credited with designing the popular Chrysler 300 sedan, told the Detroit Free Press that he wants to get Chrysler's "cars to be sexy again."

"I think it's definitely time for a new aesthetic at Chrysler. I want to kind of shepherd a new ... design philosophy. I am kind of done with the edge-type of design, the more structured look," said Gilles, 38, referring to the style of the Chrysler's new minivans.
