‘Council recycle truck turned my Fiat Punto to scrap metal’ 29/08/2008 21:20. Aug 29 2008 by Peter Collins , South Wales Echo CARE worker Alexis Campbell couldnt believe her eyes when a council recycling truck backed into her cherished Fiat Punto car, condemning it to the scrapheap. Mother-of-two Mrs Campbell, 40, of Raldan Close, Barry, was visiting a friend in Lucas Close, Barry, when disaster struck. The truck, which was being used to pick up recyclable material from the street, reversed into her car. There was nothing I could do to stop it, said Mrs Campbell. I just had to look on in horror as my lovely car was written off. All the back end was smashed in. It was eight years old, but my partner is a mechanic and so it was in good mechanical condition.
