Ford's tweak of Mustang a good one 30/11/2008 18:05. Unlike the 2005 model, the recently revealed 2010 Ford Mustang is not a sweeping reinvention of America's first, and for the moment only, pony car. Indeed, the architecture and drive trains used in this sporty American icon remain almost entirely unchanged from the previous model. What Ford has done, essentially, is restyle and refine a good thing, a car so successful it triggered the renaissance of its old retro rival, the Chevy Camaro. (The resurrected Camaro will be a 2010 model that will debut next year, in the vicinity of the new Mustang's March arrival.) The restyling of Ford's rear-drive sport coupe and convertible turns out to be nifty business. It manages to be more contemporary while enunciating its '60s aesthetics, largely by sculpting more curvature into its flanks.... // Philadelphia Inquirer |
