CHINO HILLS - Donald Ford doesn't care if he received special treatment or sympathy.

The only thing that matters is that he got his fully restored 1955 Ford Thunderbird out of harm's way.

The 69-year-old Chino Hills resident evacuated his Carbon Canyon home for the first time early Saturday evening after he saw the flames of the Triangle Complex Fire start to creep down the hill near his home.

He and his wife, Karen, and their cat packed up a car and a truck with clothes, medicine, videos, and documents and drove down the hill - leaving the beloved Thunderbird parked in the driveway.

Once they were safe and settled, however, Ford decided he had to go back and get that car.
