BOLOGNA, Italy - October 25, 2008: At a private ceremony yesterday at the Viminale Palace where Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. donated a police version of the company’s newest super sports car, Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia, to the head of the Italian State Police, Prefect Antonio Manganelli.

The new Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia, which replaces the previous Gallardo in use by the Italian police force since 2004 has a 560 horsepower engine that can reach speeds of up to 203 mph. Lamborghini has today announced a new racing series called the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, which is set to commence next May and is described as the worlds fastest one-make series. Competitors will race Lamborghinis new Super Trofeo a lightweight version of the Gallardo LP 560-4 and events are scheduled for race tracks all over Europe.

The Super Trofeo will come with a reworked chassis, significantly reduced weight of only 1300 kg, and power output of 570hp (419kW). The series will debut in May 2009, and feature Lamborghini's Super Trofeo: a lightweight version of the Gallardo LP 560-4 super sports car launched earlier this year.

that has been on duty since 2004, logging more than 87,000 miles
and countless donuts in service with Rome’s police force.
Another Gallardo has been in service around Bologna since 2005 and

Lamborghinis new Gallardo LP560/4 has joined the ranks of the Italian State Police, replacing the previous Gallardo Polizia supercar after almost four years of service. The latest LP560/4 was donated by Lamborghini at a ceremony today and will be used for patrol duty on the motorways of central and southern Italy, as well as on emergency medical transport detail.

No changes are made to the mechanical package, but the interior is fitted with an advanced video monitoring system, a GPS data logger, radar guns, a digital video-hook up that can transmit live images to the squad room, a gun holster, police radio, and a Paletta hand-held stop sign.
