10/09/2008 17:44. Volkswagen India has officially confirmed that they shall definitely be launching their world famous car, Beetle, in India in 2009. “Beetle will come here. After strengthening our dealership network, it will come next year,” confirmed VW India President and Managing Director, Joerg Mueller.

VW plans to strengthen its brand image in the luxury car segment as it prepares to launch in India. Beetle is currently manufactured in Mexico and shall come to India as a completely built unit. This means that car shall attract heavy import duty levied on CBU which will make it pricier.
