dying but not dead. While almost everyone these days goes for the
practicality of either a hatchback or an estate, there are still
some buyers who like the rather more upmarket aura of a three-box
saloon, which tends to be rather better specced than its five-door
brethren. A large proportion of saloon 'buyers' are company car
drivers, however, so there's the sales-rep-mobile image to take
into account. But if it's a saloon car you want, the VW Passat is
among the best and it's certainly a car with excellent residual
values.
