25/09/2008 08:38. The havoc that rising fuel prices and emissions regulations have wreaked upon the car industry is not just limited to America, but is indeed affecting manufacturers worldwide. To that end, Volvo seeks to shave more hairs off the fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions of its existing models, and is using the Paris auto show to unveil new “1.6D DRIVe†models of the C30 , S40 , and V50 , all powered by fuel-sipping 1.6-liter diesel four-cylinders.

The DRIVe models were previewed by the C30 Efficiency concept car first seen at the 2007 Frankfurt auto show . As with that car, the DRIVe models feature many changes—most undetectable to the casual observer—intended to maximize the efficiency of the car without requiring a complete redesign.
