Chrysler sues Magna over recall of heated seats

17/06/2008 17:26. Chrysler LLC is suing Magna International Inc. , one of its largest suppliers, in another example of how the squeeze on costs in the auto industry is causing even the closest of collaborators to battle it out.

The fight is about whether the auto maker or the parts company will pay the multimillion-dollar costs of a recall involving heated seats made by Magna and used in Chrysler's minivans that were doing their job too well - overheating and burning through the fabric to create "hot spots."

The overheating meant Chrysler was forced to recall 161,500 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans, the auto maker said in documents filed in the Oakland County Circuit Court in Michigan.
