Endeca Technologies, Inc., a search and information access software company, today announced
that Ford Motor Company, has selected and deployed Endeca's Spend Analysis solution , built on the Endeca®Information Access Platform (IAP).
Launched in late summer 2008, the solution supports a corporate
initiative to reduce direct material costs and identify
opportunities for parts consolidation and efficiencies for existing

its automotive brands totaled 132,838 units in October, down around
30.2 percent compared with a year ago. The company sold 190,195
units in the U.S. market during October of 2007. The Ford and Lincoln brands each saw a sales drop of nearly 28%, while sales of the firm's Mercury brand dropped by 47.4%. Performance at the company's Volvo unit were even worse, with the brand showing a 52.1% drop in sales for the month. Sales of SUVs were especially hard hit. U.S. sales dropped 30.2% from last year, hurt by a weakening
economy and tight credit conditions. The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker, which was displaced by Toyota as No.2 U.S. automaker last year, said it sold 132,838 vehicles in October, down from 190,195 vehicles sold in the same month last year.
